Police dogs are working to find potential threats like drugs and explosives that could arrive at the courthouse. The Trib reports that there has been word that election officials across the nation are receiving fentanyl-laced mail through mail-in ballots. While this has not happened in Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County Election officials took the proactive step of using police dogs assigned to the county park police department to inspect the ballots. Chief Henry Fontana said nothing suspicious has been found among the sealed envelopes containing ballots or any of the other items that arrive through the mail and other deliveries.
