A political display during the annual Mt. Pleasant Halloween Parade on Wednesday is drawing a lot of criticism for its depiction of Kamala Harris handcuffed and leashed to the back of a golf cart. The Trib reports that bystanders and the Pittsburgh Chapter of the NAACP have spoken out against the display, with NAACP representatives saying it went beyond Halloween satire or free expression and went into a harmful symbol of racism. The Mt. Pleasant fire department, who organized the event, apologized in a statement, saying they do not share in that participant’s values, and it will review its processes to prevent another incident from happening again.
