The head of the union that represents the faculty at state-owned colleges and universities is calling for the President of Commonwealth University to either step down or be fired. The remarks come in the wake of a federal lawsuit won by former Bloomsburg University dean Jeffrey Krug. He was awarded $3.9 million over claims that he faced retaliation and was fired for helping an administrative assistant file a sexual harassment lawsuit against Commonwealth University President Bashir Hanna. The university has also seen its share of budget problems, declining enrollment, hiring issues, dropping morale and other issues. APSCUF President Dr. Kenneth Mash is asking the State System board of Governors, interim chancellor Christopher Fiorentino, and the Commonwealth trustees to do what he feels is right and remove him. Barring that, APSCUF would support faculty votes of no confidence in Hanna as a starting point.
