PENN BOROUGH CONSDERS MERGER WITH PENN TOWNSHIP

Penn Borough is considering a merger with Penn Township.  The Trib reports that the merger would allow the communities to form a unified council and share services such as management, public works, recreation and community development.  Right now, most of those services are handled on a volunteer basis.  Residents of the borough and township will have an opportunity to voice their thoughts and concerns on the merger sometime in the new year, and there is the possibility of a vote on the issue to come up as a referendum on the next general election ballot.
