New Kensington’s proposed budget will hold the line on property taxes. The Trib reports the $11.4 million budget would keep property taxes at 32.03 mills. There is a 5.7% increase in spending, mainly due to health care cost increases, along with increases in pension and labor costs. The biggest initiative not reflected in the budget is that the city is applying to the state Infrastructure Bank to borrow money against its liquid fuels funds to pave streets, according to city clerk Dennis Scarpiniti. A final vote on the budget is set for December 30th.
