The family of Elizabeth Pollard is sharing their appreciation for first responders after the woman’s body was found in an abandoned mine this past Friday. Loved ones of the 64-year-old grandmother say the state police have been supportive of them over the last week and they appreciate everyone who worked to bring Elizabeth back to them so they can have closure. The woman fell into a sinkhole that led to the mine while reportedly looking for a lost cat last Monday near a restaurant right outside the village of Marguerite, where she lived with her husband and granddaughter. State police led the search as various officials and agencies looked for Pollard starting early Tuesday morning until she was found deceased.
