A historic bridge in North Huntingdon will sadly be torn down. That’s according to PennDOT, which says the Leger Road bridge which runs over Brush Creek is in too poor of a condition to be fixed to meet federal standards. PennDOT says that on average, more than five-thousand vehicles travel across the bridge daily. The bridge was built in 1909 and has been considered to be one of the earliest examples of concrete arch bridge technology in the area. PennDOT says that in 2026, the bridge will be torn down and a new bridge will be constructed, which will result in a five-mile detour during construction.
