Work continues to go well at the Westmoreland County Register of Wills office. The Trib reports that acting Register of Wills Katie Pecarchik said that they are caught up on the backlog of work, are now fully staffed and nothing is sitting around. Last May, former Register of Wills Sherry Hamilton was found in contempt of court for missing deadlines and other failures of the office that resulted in a large backlog of work. County officials claimed Hamilton rarely came to work and failed to replace staff, which left the office severely understaffed and unable to perform its required functions. Westmoreland County Common Pleas Judge Harry Smail Jr. in June stripped Hamilton of her oversight of the office and appointed Greensburg attorney Jim Antoniono as its conservator. Hamilton resigned from her post in September.
