For the 35th straight year, the Hempfield Township supervisors will hold the line on property taxes. The Trib reports that the $17 million spending plan for 2025 keeps property taxes at 3 mills. A proposed fire tax was rejected as part of the budget. The road paving budget was cut from $2.5 million in 2024 to $1.8 million in 2025. The township also announced a five-year agreement with Vialytics to use Artificial Intelligence to help them prioritize roads that need improvements. Township manager Aaron Siko said the software will help identify potholes and cracks in roads while assessing pavement markings and the reflectivity of road signs.
