ADELPHOI TEEN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING EMPLOYEE

A teen housed at the Adelphoi facility in Unity was charged with assaulting an employee on New Year’s Day.  The Trib reports that a staffer at the Sweeney home on Mission Road was breaking up a fight between two juveniles when 18-year-old Jesus Ayala attacked the staffer from behind, punching him numerous times in the head.  Police said Ayala spoke with them afterward, apologizing for the attack and stating he did not know why he did it.
