JEANNETTE DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY

The city of Jeannette has declared an emergency due to a lack of road salt.  The Trib reports that Jeanette Mayor Curtis Antoniak said they have not had adequate road salt to treat roads for a few days and conditions are getting worse.  He added that the manager has been trying to get more for weeks, but three requests for 500 tons of salt have resulted in 100 tons being delivered.  The emergency order allows the city manager to seek other vendors to buy salt from, and the manager said they have contacted one and hope to get a delivery soon.
