State police are trying to figure out what led up to a tragic murder-suicide in Hempfield Township last week. Investigators believe 35-year-old Paul Swarner fatally shot his wife and their two young children before taking his own life last Wednesday or Thursday. The victims have been identified as 32-year-old Karen Swarner and the couple’s kids, five-year-old Evelyn and one-year-old Connor. Authorities say Karen’s father found the family dead after going to their home near Waltz Mill Road, east of New Stanton, around 11:30 Thursday night. PSP Trooper Steve Limani says they are looking through electronic devices and going over other evidence to try to find some kind of motive in the case.
