HEMPFIELD MAN ORDERED TO SERVE UP TO 8 YEARS

A Hempfield man was ordered to serve up to eight years in prison for attacking a woman nearly three years ago.  The Trib reports 34-year-old Cody Mattei pleaded guilty in November to charges related to the incident in 2022 when police said he severely beat and choked a woman with a tv cable and threatened her with a shotgun.  Mattei’s victim claimed the attack happened over a 12 hour period.  After waking up from being choked unconscious, she was threatened at gunpoint to admit to a crime she said that he committed.  She was eventually able to escape the home and call the police.  On top of the jail time, Mattei will serve five years of probation.
