A man is in custody after an hours-long standoff in Unity Township on Saturday. The Trib reports that 59-year-old David Rebar, Jr. now faces charges of aggravated and simple assault and reckless endangerment in connection with the incident. He allegedly shot his 80-year-old mother at a home in the 5200 block of Center Drive in the Lawson Heights neighborhood after an argument. She was able to get away from the house, but Rebar went back inside. State police said he fired several shots in the building, but none of them went outside. Rebar was arraigned and bail was denied. He was sent to Westmoreland County Jail where he will undergo a mental health evaluation. A preliminary hearing is set for June 9th.
