An extreme heat watch from the National Weather Service for Westmoreland, Allegheny and Indiana Counties will start at 11 Sunday morning and go to 8:00 Wednesday evening. A prolonged heat wave is expected, with record-setting afternoon temperatures and little relief overnight, creating hazardous conditions. Heat index values are projecting to range from 100F to 105F Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. People are reminded to keep hydrated, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Also, do not leave children or pets in cars.
