Officials in North Huntingdon are accepting letters of interest from voters in the township’s seventh ward to fill the short-term vacancy of a commissioner retiring at the end of the month. The Trib reports that Eric Gass will step down on June 30th as he is moving to Sewickley Township. Commissioners will have 30 days from his retirement to appoint a successor. The person appointed must be a registered voter for at least a year in the seventh ward and will serve only until December 31st. A special election will be held to fill the remainder of the term from January 1st of 2026 to the end of 2027.
