New Kensington Council yesterday appointed Randy Shank as its new city controller. The Trib reports that he takes over for John Zavadak, who was appointed city clerk in June due to the retirement of Dennis Scarpiniti. Shank sits on the city’s planning commission and is a volunteer firefighter. He was a candidate in this spring’s Democratic council primary but did not earn enough votes to advance to the general election. He says he plans to run again in November.
