State police have accused a Jeannette woman with fleeing a traffic stop, trying to hit an officer with her car and other crimes for an incident on July 4th. The Trib reports that 36-year-old Amanda Nelson was pursued by state troopers after a state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources ranger tried to pull her over along Route 981 South. Troopers and the Ranger were able to box her SUV in along Depot St. Police said she ignored the Troopers orders and moved her vehicle forward to try and strike him. After crashing into a sign at the Adelphoi Youth Treatment Center, the chase ended at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Weldon Street. She had to be forcibly removed. She was denied bail and is in Westmoreland County Jail until her preliminary hearing on July 23rd.
