REQUEST TO BAN JAKE BRAKES IN LOWER BURRELL REJECTED BY PENNDOT

A request to ban Jake Brakes along a portion of Route 56 in Lower Burrell was rejected by PennDOT.  The Trib reports that the request was made in April by City officials to ban the brake retarders on 56 between Hillcrest Drive and Leechburg Road.  Citizens had complained about the noise made from the devices, but PennDOT says the grade of the road is steeper than the requirements to allow the ban.
