Former Greensburg Police Chief Shawn Denning pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor counts of tampering with evidence yesterday in Westmoreland County Court. The Trib reports that he was ordered to three concurrent one-year probation terms, which will run alongside the 15-month prison sentence he is serving for drug trafficking charges. In this case, he was accused of stealing a backpack full of drugs and psilocybin mushrooms from the police department’s evidence room. Denning declined to make a statement during Monday’s court hearing, only saying he agreed to plead guilty because it was in his best interest.
