The 2025 budget passed by the State Senate failed to pass the House Appropriations Committee yesterday. The vote was along party lines, with Democrats voting against it. The bill proposed by the Senate would have kept state government funding going at the same level as the previous year’s budget without the extra spending proposed by Governor Josh Shapiro and PA House Democrats in their respective budget plans. State Representative Jim Struzzi of Indiana County said that it was never to be a final product but wanted to see it pass as it would have started to send money to schools, nonprofits, hospitals and counties while work continued on the final spending plan.
