IUP’s Cheerleaders have been placed on stayed removal of university recognition for one year after an investigation into hazing practices between Fall of 2023 and Spring of 2025. According to a Campus Hazing Transparency Report, the team forced newer members to clean up after social events, take part in non-customary events involving alcohol, and required underage members to pay for kegs of beer or assist in the purchase. The stayed removal includes restricted team activities and educational and developmental requirements that need to be met between now and May of 2026. After that the team will be on probation until May of 2030.
