An East Huntingdon man was convicted of 18 charges filed against him in a shootout with state police last year. The Trib reports that jurors took five hours to return guilty verdicts against 63-year-old James Miller, Jr. on multiple counts of aggravated assault and shooting at police officers and related offenses, while he was acquitted of two counts of attempted homicide . Prosecutors said during the three-day trial that Miller fired two rounds as police conducted a neighborhood canvass in response to a report of a bullet being shot through a nearby home’s attic skylight. Miller will remain in Westmoreland County Prison as he awaits a sentencing hearing. Defense attorney Jill Devine said they are considering appealing the verdict.
