The City of Jeannette is looking to crack down on signs posted on utility poles. The Trib reports that this will be handled by the Code Enforcement Officer, who has a draft letter ready to mail out to anyone that he is able to identify posting the signs. Notice would have to be provided to the sign owner before it is removed, but in some cases, those signs do not have anything that would show who they belong to. This comes on the heels of the state police charging former mayoral candidate Ed Day with violating a law that prohibits driving a nail, tack or metal or hard substance into a utility pole.
