Religious students in Pennsylvania can now participate in public school athletics. An interim consent order filed in federal court yesterday ruled parochial students are now able to play for their hometown public school district’s sports teams as long as their current school doesn’t offer that program. The decision comes after a lawsuit arguing non-faith-based students were allowed to participate in public school sports, but religious students were not. The PIAA says it will change its Bylaws to comply with the order.
