NEW PARK SET TO OPEN IN HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP

A new park is set to open soon in Hempfield Township.  Local officials and invited guests got a sneak peek at the first phase of the recreation area off Weatherwood Lane, near Route 30, on Saturday.  The 14-acre site features a playground, an adult exercise area, a splash zone, and a building housing a concession stand, restrooms, and storage space.  It will open to the public in a couple of weeks.  This first section of the park is part of a larger plan to develop the entire 43-acre property.  County officials are hoping to start work on athletic fields and other amenities next year.
