Two homeowners in North Belle Vernon are claiming mine subsidence has damaged their house. The Trib reports that the home of Dawn and Scott Wilson now has cracks in the foundation, which came after six-inch bore holes were drilled on a neighboring property to fill mine voids to stabilize the ground. DEP representatives told the Wilsons that they had dry soil displacement before they purchased mine subsidence insurance and it was their problem. While they can appeal the decisions, they are afraid the house may break before anything is settled.
