PROPOSED LETTER FROM LIGONIER VALLEY POLICE COMMISSION MET WITH SOME CONTROVERSY

A proposed letter from the Ligonier Valley Police Commission to the Westmoreland County DA is being met with some controversy.  The Trib reports that earlier this week, the Commission discussed sending the letter asking if local criminal charges are planned stemming from a 2023 raid conducted by federal and state officials at the police station.  The board did not send the letter, but some officers say that the letter was an insult to the 12 officers on the force.  Authorities said the investigation focused on former chief John Berger.  No criminal charges have been filed.
