A former Greensburg man was released from house arrest on Monday as he awaits trial for setting a home in Hempfield on fire in 2022. The Trib reports that 61-year-old Randy Bryner, now of Bovard, is accused of setting fire to the home on Farmington Place in January of 2022 to cover up his theft of silver coins from it. Bryner has been on house arrest since then. During a court hearing Monday, Bryner said personal setbacks, including the recent death of his wife, his struggles caring for two special needs children and financial obligations related to his house arrest left him unable to pay legal expenses related to his upcoming trial. Common pleas court judge Tim Krieger lifted the house arrest after hearing that Bryner has had no violations during that time. His trial will begin in January.
