The City of Greensburg’s budget is expected to hold the line on property taxes for the next year. The Trib reports that the tax rate is anticipated to stay at 27.95 mills, but officials say next year they plan to redirect some of the expected property tax revenue into a sinking fund to pay down debt from the general fund. While there are concerns about the rising costs of electricity and property reassessments, one part of the budget that is still undetermined is if the city will get a $1 million state grant for repairs to the Robert A. Bell Parking Garage, which is seen as a priority. If the money doesn’t come from the state, officials will need to find a new funding source. The budget is now out for advertisement and will be up for final approval in December.
