County officials have yet to hear from the state concerning a $500,000 invoice they sent to the governor seeking money they claim is owed as a result of the state budget impasse. The Trib reports that Controller Jeffrey Balzer said the bill was sent to Governor Josh Shapiro seeking repayment for interest lost from accounts where money was shifted to pay for essential government operations. Balzer said that officials acknowledged receipt of the invoice, but they were waiting for the 2025-26 budget to be finalized before addressing the issue. The controller’s office and the county’s finance department will continue to compile data to determine if any additional revenue was lost during the budget impasse. Balzer said the county could send another bill to the state.
