GRAPEVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO OFFICIALLY DISSOLVE IN 2 WEEKS

The Grapeville fire department will officially dissolve in about two weeks.  The Trib reports that Hempfield Township supervisors approved the dissolution of the fire department’s charter in March after 107 years of independent service.  Management of the department will be taken over by the township following a court of common pleas hearing on December 19th.   But Hempfield has every intention to maintain the station’s century of history, said fire Chief Anthony Kovacic.
