Officials in Westmoreland County are starting to bring back workers who were furloughed during the state budget standoff. Commissioner Doug Chew says state money is now beginning to come in again, allowing them to get the process of putting county employees back to work started. The 125 people who have been off the job should be back by January, according to Chew. While layoffs are not expected right now, Westmoreland County commissioners are also still working on bringing down a projected 30-million-dollar deficit for the 2026 budget.
