A Hempfield woman is facing charges connected with a stabbing on Christmas Day. The Trib reports that 26-year-old Mia Riser was involved in a dispute with a man at her apartment just before 6:00 PM on Thursday when she tried to jump out of a window at the building on West Hills Drive holding a baby in one arm and a steak knife in the other. The man told troopers that he talked her into coming back into the apartment and moved the child to safety. She then left and headed towards Route 30. He claimed to police that a second struggle ensued and she stabbed him with the steak knife. She is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for January 6th.
