Residents in Lower Burrell are paying more for sewage services and recycling in the new year. Local leaders say the average annual sewage bill in the city is going up by 48 dollars, roughly eight percent. The recycling rate is increasing by eight dollars for the year. Mayor Chris Fabry says the sewage hike could not be avoided because of service costs. An annual increase on recycling is built into the contract Lower Burrell has with Waste Management.
