A Mifflin County man is charged in connection with two explosions at a Duquesne Light substation in Trafford in 2025. The Trib reports that 32-year-old Derrick McCarty of McVeytown is accused of trying to cut high-voltage lines on February 1st. He was connected to the incident through DNA evidence found on scene on bottles of Powerade and Listerine. Authorities found tools and bags in the area. McCarty is now being held in Westmoreland County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing set for January 20th.
