A bridge in Irwin was closed yesterday after a foot-wide hole formed in the deck. The Trib reports that engineering firm Gibson-Thomas could not provide Irwin Borough Council with a timeline for repairs, but they were told to conduct further testing and make an evaluation of the bridge. A detour around the closed bridge would require going through streets in North Huntingdon, along with parts of Route 30. The borough will coordinate with PennDOT on the use of state roads and sign placement.
