Governor Josh Shapiro is sharing some details on the roughly 53-billion-dollar budget proposal that is being submitted to Pennsylvania lawmakers. The governor touched on the spending plan yesterday, saying he wants a tax on legalized adult use cannabis and taxes on skill games in order to drive new revenue. He added that this budget will not require any tax increases for state residents. Shapiro’s budget includes over half-a-billion dollars more in public education dollars that will be aimed at helping schools that historically have not been funded equally. The governor is also calling for a 15-dollar statewide minimum wage to start up at the beginning of 2027 and additional tax contributions for the Pennsylvania Transportation Trust Fund.
