A group of environmentalists and residents told state officials during a public hearing that environmental regulators should revise a draft permit for a natural-gas-fired power plant in South Huntingdon. The Trib reports that a dozen speakers offered testimony for the DEP hearing at the Turkeytown Fire Department social hall. They said more monitoring is necessary as it was out of compliance for the last three years for carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and other pollutants. The DEP will review the comments on the hearing before making a final decision.
