The PA Game Commission released several pheasants into the wild yesterday morning. The Trib reports that this is traditionally done close to the end of pheasant hunting season. In anticipation of losing pheasants to bird flu outbreaks, land management group supervisor Zebulun Campbell said breeders will often try to boost the overall population. “Bonus” birds are released toward the end of pheasant hunting season, which runs through the end of February. Close to 1800 birds were released, including some near the Loyalhanna Creek.
