HEMPFIELD MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING A PREGNANT WOMAN

A Hempfield man is charged with assaulting a pregnant woman and her unborn child during an incident at his apartment over the weekend.  The Trib reports that 33-year-old Richard Haubrich, Jr. was arrested Sunday after the incident at 1:00 AM at the West Hills Village Apartments.  The victim said that Haubrich threw an item at her face while sleeping and then tried to smother her with a pillow, then he reportedly jumped on her stomach.  He is charged with aggravated assault of an unborn child, strangulation and other crimes.  He is being held in Westmoreland County Prison without bail with a preliminary hearing set for February 24th.
