MONESSEN CITY SCHOOL EMPLOYEE ACCUSED OF TAKING GUN TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

An employee with Monessen City Schools is accused of taking a gun to the district’s elementary school yesterday.  The city’s police chief has confirmed that the person who had the gun is a teacher, saying the firearm was found inside the school, but it was not displayed or used to menace.  The teacher does have a license to carry the weapon, according to authorities.  No charges have been filed so far as local police and the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office investigate.  No details on potential discipline from the school district were released.
