HEMPFIELD SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES PLANS TO CONVERT FOUR GRASS PLAYING SURFACES TO TURF

The Hempfield School Board has approved plans to convert four grass playing surfaces to turf.  KDKA-TV reports that the board voted 7-2 to move forward with the plans to renovate the baseball, softball and multipurpose fields in an effort to keep them playable through consistent use and wet weather conditions.  The project is expected to help address safety, field availability, maintenance costs and availability for both the school and the community.
