HEMPFIELD MAN CHARGED WITH ANIMAL CRUELTY

A Hempfield man is charged with animal cruelty after police said he brought a parakeet with him to a bar.  The Trib reports that the bird had a broken leg and was underweight and weak when 40-year-old Timothy Grace brought the parakeet in his pocket to Callaghan’s Bar on February 21st and claimed that the bird consumed marijuana and beer daily.  The bird was taken to an animal hospital for treatment.  A court date for Grace has not been set yet.
