No word yet if Jonathan Held will be re-tried in his corruption case.
Held is charged with a felony count of conflict of interest and theft of services for allegedly making sheriff’s office employees do some work for his fundraising campaign while on the clock for the county. After a jury returned a guilty verdict in the courtroom on Friday, Judge Timothy Creany polled the jury and one of the jurors said that the verdict was not really his verdict. After another 30 minutes, the jury reported that the juror could not be swayed into a guilty vote, and Judge Creany declared a mistrial.
Deputy District Attorney Bobbi Jo Wagner said it is likely they will re-try the case, but a final decision on that will be made soon.
