Police in Murrysville are saying that a mailer asking for donations to “support Murrysville police” is not coming from their department.
WTAE-TV reports that the letters are coming from a registered non-profit called Citizens Behind the Badge, whose mission is to raise funds to call for more resources for law enforcement agencies nationwide. According to those who have received the mailer, it’s implied that the money would help the police directly.
CEO and Founder of Citizens Behind the Badge Craig Floyd said in a statement that it clearly states on their website that contributions do not go directly to local law enforcement agencies but “are used to honor our law enforcement officers across America by supporting the National Programs pursued by Citizens Behind the Badge.” He also encourages people to visit their website for further information.
