The primary election was held on Tuesday, with about 26 percent of the county’s registered voters casting a ballot.
For the nomination for Westmoreland County Commissioner, incumbents Sean Kertes and Doug Chew earned the Republican party’s nomination. They will go against Ted Kopas and Sydney Hovis, who were the only two Democratic candidates on the ballot. Kertes and Chew ran coordinated campaigns this spring and were endorsed in February by the county’s Republican committee.
GOP Chairman Bill Bretz filed unsuccessful lawsuits that sought to have Ventre and Kosko removed from the primary ballot.
