A proposed community park and garden in New Kensington will not be done this year.
The Trib reports that Westmoreland Community Action and Wesley Family Services had proposed building them on vacant city-owned lots on either side of Third Avenue. The funding would come from a neighborhood revitalization tax credit program, but the deadline for that application is in September and both groups feel they cannot meet the deadline and put together a project that will be beneficial for the community.
