Hempfield School Board approved the 2023-24 budget at a recent meeting, and that budget includes a tax increase.
The Trib reports that the vote went 6-2 for a $106.9 million budget that included a 2.3 mil property tax increase to 85.76 mils. That will help fill a $1.4 million budget gap.
Increased costs include nearly $1.3 million more in health insurance costs, over $900,000 for new curriculum purchases, and $140,000 to hire three new police officers for the district.
