Police in Harrison are asking the public to be vigilant for phone scammers.
The Trib reports that the police department is investigating a high-dollar fraud where a resident was scammed out of thousands of dollars. While specifics on the scam could not be released, police say that the scammers could call with believable or personal information to try to convince you to withdraw cash and tell you that someone will be along to pick it up. Some scammers are even using artificial intelligence to make the calls sound legitimate.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call is asked to contact Harrison police at 724-224-3355.
